Different Ways to Upgrade, Migrate and Consolidate with Oracle Database 12c

The most widely anticipated feature of Oracle Database 12c is now available, and you may be wondering just how you can move your current databases to pluggable databases in a multitenant architecture. Whether you are just starting to explore the world of pluggable databases or are planning a production upgrade in the near future to Oracle Database 12c, this session by Oracle Database upgrade and migration experts gives you all the details: what methods are available; how they work; and which is the best for your particular upgrade, migration, or consolidation scenario.

This will include not only the pure database upgrade but it will cover also the new migration technology, Full Transportable Export/Import, combining the advantages of Transportable Tablespaces with Data Pump and RMAN incremental backups to reduce downtime during platform changes.

An Oracle DBA’s Guide to WebLogic Server

WebLogic Server is Oracle’s flagship Java application server and a pivotal piece of the infrastructure supporting many of their applications, including Fusion Apps and Enterprise Manager Cloud Control. This session introduces the basic concepts behind WebLogic Server and discusses the installation, configuration and management of systems to support both ADF and Oracle Forms/Reports applications. The presentation is aimed at those who are new to WebLogic Server, especially DBAs who are increasingly being expected to know about middle-tier administration.

A Cure for Virtual Insanity: A vendor-neutral introduction to virtualization without the hype

You’ve heard of virtualization and you know it’s at the heart of most enterprise cloud strategies, but then it all gets a little… “cloudy”. This presentation explains the concepts, products, pros and cons of virtualization without the smoke and mirrors and definitely no sales pitch.

Overview of Oracle SOA Suite11g

The Oracle SOA Suite consists of a number of components that you can use to create services and composite applications. These components all have specific use cases and can be mixed and matched in your application. In this presentation the following components are explained:

  • BPEL to orchestrate services and model processes;
  • Spring component to create java components;
  • Mediator component as an ‘in application’ bus functionality, including sequencing;
  • Business rule component for declarative business rules management
  • Human task component for human workflow;
  • Notification services to communicate;
  • WebService manager for security and policies;
  • MDS to store common artefacts.

These components are discussed individually, and compared with each other and alternative solutions like Oracle BPM, business rules in the database etc.  Common use cases and best practices are discussed as well. After this session delegates have a thorough understanding of what Oracle SOA Suite offers and when to use what component.

Worst Oracle Application Development Framework Project Ever

If it can go wrong, it will. This humorous presentation presents “horror stories” from various projects of misunderstandings, architectural blunders, coding errors and downright bad luck. With the knowledge from this presentation, you will never make the same mistakes and will have only successful Application Development Framework projects, on time and on budget.

Rasmus Knappe, Oracle

Hands-on 12c PDC – medbring din egen laptop

Lars Bo Vanting

Lars Bo Vanting has been working as an Oracle DBA and consultant in Denmark, Germany and Switzerland since 1992. The past 10 years primary focus has been on Oracle’s database high-availability architecture (MAA) including RAC and Data Guard. And the past couple of years also including Oracle Appliances, in particular Oracle Database Appliance.

Oracle Database Appliance – A Real-World Implementation for Database Consolidation

The Oracle Database Appliance is useful for database consolidation and rapid deployment and provisioning. This presentation will go through a real-world implementation of ODA v1 at one of Blue Gecko’s customer sites. Both the considerations behind the choice of ODA as well as technical details about the setup will be covered.
